Guitar, Bass and Drum Lessons
A good teacher makes learning to play an instrument easier and more
enjoyable, and we have some great teachers here at German Village
Music Haus. Our teachers are all gigging pros who can help you reach
proficiency with your chosen instrument. Our teaching staff:
GUITAR
Robert Catapano: Bob is an excellent all-around player with 30+ years
of experience as a professional musician and teacher. He likes to make sure
his students have a strong foundation in theory and technique to build on. Bob
is in the store Monday through Friday.
Don Hales: Don is well known in the Jazz scene as a great player and
well respected teacher. He has 50+ years experience and we are lucky to have
him available for lessons on Mondays.
Mark Williams: Mark is a respected player and patient teacher with a
love for Jazz. He came up through Cornell Wiley's (R.I.P.) Jazz City Workshop
and has 30+ years experience. He is available Monday evenings for lessons.
Brandon Chapman: Brandon is the youngest of our teaching staff, but he
has already built a reputation as a great player. He has toured internationally
and can be heard around town in his current bandit Lt. Dan's New Legs.
Brandon is available for lessons on Friday and Saturday.
BASS
Mike Shoaf: Mike is a much in demand bassist, covering all styles with
amazing skill and tasteful playing. You can take advantage of his 30+ years of
experience on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Dan Sagraves: Dan is another Cornell Wiley legacy, specializing in Upright
bass. Dan is a great player and showman, well known in the Rockabilly, Blues and
Jazz scenes. Tuesday evening are when you can get behind the "doghouse" with Dan.
DRUMS
Jimmie Castoe: Jimmy is a well known drummer with 30+ years of experience.
This is the same Jimmie Castoe that the award at ComFest is named after (for playing
in so many bands during the event). Jimmie loves Jazz, but can and will work any style.
He is available on Thursdays and Saturdays for lessons.

String Saver saddles are one of the best upgrades you can give your guitar. The new Floyd Rose replacement saddles are an even bigger boon, with the original Schaller parts being hard to come by lately.
